Arizona BHA Helps Maintain Access on Perrin Ranch

The Arizona Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) have come together for a handful of rewarding days of volunteer work on Perrin Ranch in Unit 10, Arizona. This effort was part of the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Adopt-a-Ranch program, which fosters collaboration between conservation groups, state agencies, and ranch owners to improve habitat and public access on working ranches.

What We Have Accomplished So Far

Our dedicated volunteers rolled up their sleeves and made a meaningful impact on the landscape. Our team has worked closely with ranch representatives and Arizona Game and Fish personnel to complete several important tasks:

  • Fence Repair & Removal: Volunteers repaired and removed old or damaged fencing to reduce hazards for wildlife such as elk, deer, and pronghorn. This improves migration corridors and access to vital grazing and watering areas.
  • Water Source Maintenance: Teams cleared and repaired water sources, ensuring reliable hydration for wildlife and livestock during Arizona’s arid seasons.
  • Trash Cleanup: Volunteers scoured the area to remove debris and litter, helping to maintain the ranch's pristine environment for both wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts.
