Schedule of Events

Overview:  The skills bridge candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day work for the Armed forces initiative including assistance in event planning for at least one Train the Trainer type event, One National Priority Landscape Project, and various fundraising and corporate partner events. The type of events will depend on the time of year as noted below.  Total responsibility for these projects falls upon the Armed Forces Initiative Coordinator but the Skills Bridge Project Manager will be asked to assist as needed.

 

These events will vary based on time of year, but examples of events include:

 

  1. Annual Fundraising Event: March, April, or June every year
    1. Responsibilities’
      1. Assisting in development of written communications (flyers, Promo materials)
      2. Assisting in photo/video capture during event
  • Managing incoming funding for various raffles, auctions, and sweepstakes
  1. Represent the AFI Program to Members, stakeholders, sponsors, and board members throughout planning process
  2. prepare Training documents for local leaders on AFI Priorities, benefits, and successes

 

 

  1. Industry Show booth management: Usually February
    1. Responsibilities’:
      1. Assisting in development of written communications (flyers, Promo materials)
      2. Managing incoming funding for various raffles, auctions, and sweepstakes
  • Represent the AFI Program to Members, stakeholders, sponsors, and board members throughout planning process.
  1. Industry shows examples:

  1. Train the Trainer event: Conducted once per quarter at various US locations
    1. Responsibilities:
      1. Updating training packets based on input from staff members and current policy priorities
      2. Prepare training documents for breakout groups for volunteer leaders
  • Work with BHA communications team to build marketing and social media content for event

 

  1. National Priority Landscape Project: Conducted once a year at a different location every year, 2023 event will be in Alaska
    1. Responsibilities’:
      1. Coordinate travel for participants
      2. Assist in funding applications
  • Assist in sales meetings with key stake holders and sponsors
  1. Assist in managing marketing tasks with social media manager and digital communications team.
  2. Coordinate film crew activities and represent the AFI in all communications

 

 

Tasks/ Projects

  1. Main Project:
    1. The primary responsibility of the Skills Bridge Project Manager will be to complete one project in their 3 months with BHA. The project will vary based on the needs of the organization and current priorities for ROI, Funding, Corporate sponsorships, or program Development. Candidates will be offered the option to select from 4 current projects they would like to undertake in the first two weeks and have the remining time to complete the project.

    1. In addition to the main project the Skills bridge Project Manager will also be responsible for several day-to-day tasks required for the Armed Forces Initiative to function

      2. Receive event marketing forms and work with communications team to post to website

  • Receive Event Financial reports and work with AFI Finance Manager to categorize and report income and spending
    1. 1 hour per day
  1. Work with Field staff to contact all prospective attendees for events and ensure packing lists, OPORDs, and relevant safety information has been delivered
    1. 2 hours a day
  2. Coordinate with BHA Digital Communication team to post Articles on the blog, social media content, and grant requests
    1. As requested, (no more that 10 hours a month)
  3. Attend all Staff calls

Additional Details:

My intent for this position is to offer as much corporate experience with as many departments as possible so the candidate can enter into a civilian job interview with BHA or anywhere in the industry and have experience relevant to many opportunities within the organization.  Furthermore, through constant opportunities to display the candidates project results and skill set with multiple leaders will cultivate a robust network capable of introductions across the outdoor industry with many of our corporate partners or peer organizations for an array of available positions upon completion of the skills bridge program.
