The Arizona Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is saddened to hear of the passing of founding member Kurt Bahti.

Kurt's dedication to protecting the earth’s most valuable resources and ecosystems was an inspiration to all of us. Through his work with AZGFD, BHA, and numerous other organizations, Kurt turned his passion into action, creating something larger than himself, something that will continue to echo for years to come. The work he started was a true reflection of who he was: compassionate, driven, and unyielding in his beliefs.

To those of us fortunate enough to know Kurt personally, he was a kind and constant presence. Whether it was through his words of encouragement or the countless hours spent leading efforts in the field, he never wavered in his mission. Though he is no longer with us, Kurt’s life continues to be a beacon. His work and his dreams will live on in the efforts we all take up in his honor. The seeds he planted will grow, the wildlife he fought to protect will thrive, and the world is, without question, a better place because of him.

As we say goodbye, we must remember that his life’s mission does not end here. We must carry it forward, remembering his words, his actions, and the undeniable impact he made.

Thank you, Kurt, for your unwavering dedication and the hope you gave us all. You will never be forgotten, and your spirit will continue to guide us in the fight for the places you loved so dearly.
