Contact event lead Judson Brown with questions (contact info below).The Texas Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers invites you to join us for our 3rd Annual Conservation Conversation, on August 29, 2024 near Bastrop, Texas.This year’s event will feature guest storytellers sharing accounts of their favorite hunting and fishing adventures on public lands. This celebration of everything public land, water, and wildlife is our premier event each year, and funds raised at the event support important initiatives such as our ongoing support of the Save the Cutoff campaign and funding an American Fisheries Society Hutton Scholar to add capacity for the TPWD River Access Program.Each ticket includes dinner, drinks, and a custom engraved cup. The first 50 ticket buyers and their guests will be entered to win a $200 credit to Benchmade knives!StorytellersJay Kleberg, Executive Director of the Gulf of Mexico TrustJay Kleberg is the Executive Director of the Gulf of Mexico Trust, a coastal conservation organization dedicated to advancing sustainable solutions that work for industry, communities, and the environment. He previously worked in conservation in the Brazilian Amazon and served as Associate Director and Director of Conservation Initiatives for Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation. He was a strategic consultant to the National Parks Service and The Peregrine Fund and a film producer for The River and the Wall and the Deep in the Heart. He has mountain biked the 2,700-mile Continental Divide from Mexico to Canada, barely survived the Texas Water Safari, and traveled the length of the Texas-Mexico border by canoe, bike, and horse. In October 2023, he and his wife walked Texas’ 370-mile coastline and produced the documentary series Chasing the Tide. They are still married with three daughters and live in Austin. He earned his B.A. from Williams College and M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business.Jennifer Provaznik, Texas Parks & Wildlife Game WardenJennifer Provaznik is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University. After graduating the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game warden academy in 2013, she was stationed in Galveston, where she has remained to this day. She has been featured on the popular television show, Lone Star Law, where her tough-but-fair work ethic and passion for conservation truly come to life. As an avid outdoorswoman, she loves being active outside and providing her state with security and sustainability for its natural resources and environment.Dustin Baker, President of Save The CutoffDustin Baker is President of Save the Cutoff, a grassroots organization formed by local citizens to challenge the illegal closure of “The Cutoff” a hunting and fishing area along the Trinity River with a rich history of public access. He developed a love for the outdoors at a very young age and considers crappie fishing and duck hunting two of life’s greatest blessings. He cherishes time with friends and family to experience the outdoors and make memories.Dan Snodgrass, Director of Protection and Stewardship for The Nature Conservancy of TexasDan Snodgrass is a Wildlife Biologist who works to enhance and protect habitat for plants, wildlife, water resources, and people in Texas. He has a degree in range and wildlife management from Texas Tech University and specializes in wildlife management, land management, prescribed fire, and conservation easements. Mr. Snodgrass has spent almost thirty years working in conservation, twenty-seven of those with The Nature Conservancy of Texas. He has worked in conservation throughout the state of Texas.
