A: Ways to get more involved. I love public land, but where I live the land is either poorly managed or not accessible. Hunting in North Carolina is dominated by private hunting clubs – people my age are practically barred from hunting considering it is illegal to take game on Sundays. BHA is doing a great job fighting for habitat conservation in the Midwest regions (from what I have read), and I would like to see them bring interest into the east coast.

Q: Are you willing to volunteer?
A: I would be willing to help on work projects or in field projects – I would not be interested in canvassing or making phone calls. I actually had an idea about starting a non-profit that would not just teach , but take underprivileged children out on public lands to experience hunting, fishing and wildlife recreation. I know there are programs similar to this but they aren’t as successful as they could be. Interest in American public lands are diminishing in people my age and I believe the only reason for this is because people do not experience it at a young enough age. BHA would be a better organization to launch something like this. I would 100% volunteer to work towards something like this.
