Ever wanted to try turkey hunting but unsure where to begin? Now is your chance to participate in an incredible opportunity to learn to hunt turkeys hosted by Minnesota BHA and the Trust for Public Land. As aligned partners, our shared vision revolves around protecting, providing for, and preserving public land.
The goal of this program is twofold: 1) to equip you with the tools and resources to become an ethical hunter, and 2) to foster a sense of inclusiveness, diversity and representation across Minnesota's public lands in the context of access for all. Funding for this project was provided by the Bass Pro Shops/Cabela's Outdoor Fund and the National Wild Turkey Foundation.
No experience is needed! This workshop is designed to engage a diverse group of new hunters and conservationists. The program follows a hybrid model, featuring a weekly virtual class starting in March, with one in-person field day in April, leading up to an in-person, three-day mentored hunt from May 2nd to May 4th. Simultaneously, you'll be tasked with completing your online hunter safety course.
*Participants will be expected to attend 3 virtual meetings and 1 in-person meeting over the course of March and April for 1-2 hours each prior to the hunting weekend in May.
**Applicants must be at least 18 years old and be able to purchase a valid hunting license.
We are limited to 10 spots available. Participants will be selected from a pool of eligible applicants.
To be considered, complete the pre-hunt questionnaire below as an eligible applicant. Deadline to apply is February 28th. All applicants will be notified about their status by March 7th.
