2019 Public Land Pack Out

First off, we wanted to reiterate our sincere thanks to all of you for making this year’s public lands month celebration such a huge success.  At a time when our public lands are increasingly in the crosshairs, you all stepped up and helped send a strong message that we are collectively committed to celebrating and improving our public land heritage.  Thank you all for leading the charge on this front!

As part of our Public Land Month celebration this year, we challenged all of you to help us pack out out public land trash and boost our membership by promoting our Public Land Owner t-shirt membership promotion. Thanks in large part to your efforts, we were able to add more than 1,300 members in September and pack out loads of public land trash. The winners of the Pack Out Challenge are as follows:

Public Land Pack Out:

  • The Utah chapter took 1stplace in this year’s public land pack out and will take home a $1,000 gift card from Gohunt to be used for chapter fundraising purposes. A public land pack out clean-up event spearheaded by Tyler Coleman and the Utah State College Club, though which more than 100 bags of trash were packed out helped secure this 1stplace win.  The college club will also get tickets to the 2020 BHA Rendezvous in recognition of their efforts.
  • The California chapter won five 2020 rendezvous tickets and a flat of public land owner beer for their collective efforts throughout public lands month, packing out over 50 bags of trash throughout the month.
  • The Wyoming chapter won 3rdplace in the pack out and two rendezvous tickets for picking up over 50 bags of trash on public lands in September.

Congrats to the winning chapters!  And thank you all for your efforts to help make our 2019 public lands month celebration and trial run of the public land pack out such a success!
