ID Co-Chair Ian Malepeai

Ian elk2Ian lives in Boise with his wife Hailey, daughter Malia, and pointer Tuli.   He currently works for the Idaho Department of Commerce where he helps develop the outdoor recreation business sector, and is the former general manager of the South Fork Lodge & Outfitters, a fly fishing resort located on the banks for the South Fork of the Snake River.   Ian is a passionate outdoorsman and can be found sharing his love for fly fishing, upland game bird hunting, traditional archery, and mountain biking with nearly every moment of free time.     When he’s not exploring the far reaches of wilderness or working with BHA, he can be found wearing the black and white stripes at high school football games or performing his duties as a board member for the Idaho chapter of Project Healing Waters.  



Co-Chair Bruce Smithhammer

Bruce Smithhammer lives in Teton Valley, Idaho, where he writes for numerous sporting, regional and conservation magazines. He is co-owner of the digital publishing company, Pulp Fly, and blogs about his upland adventures at Mouthful of Feathers. When not doing this he can be found harassing fish with a long skinny stick, chasing birds with his favorite canine pal Hank, and wandering far from the nearest road with a longbow.

Derrick lives in Deary, ID with his wife Tera, and children Katelyn and Wyatt. Derrick has two passions that he pursues: backpacking and hunting. He is happiest when he can combine the two. Derrick is fortunate to live in close proximity to some of the premier backpack hunting opportunities in the lower 48, and became active in BHA to help ensure that the opportunities he enjoys are available for his children.

Sean lives in Middleton, Idaho with his wife Lisa and two daughters Maria and Rebecca. Sean works in the high tech industry but spends his free time hunting, fishing, and camping throughout Idaho and the US. He enjoys introducing his daughters to the joys of the outdoor lifestyle. A member of a number of wildlife organizations, and a former Vice President and Board Member of the Idaho Wild Sheep Foundation, Sean has a long history of working for our wildlife, habitat, and land so we can pursue our passions.
