MN BHA Friends,
For those of you who don’t get the Outdoor News, the 12/7/12 issue (p. 5) included an update on MN BHA vice-chair Matt Norton (see attached: “MEP Names Matt Norton As New Campaign Director”). Then, in the 12/14/12 issue, Outdoor News editor Rob Drieslein had this to say about Matt:
“Glad to see, as reported in last week’s Outdoor News, that the Minnesota Environmental Partnership [MEP] has selected conservation and legal expert Matt Norton as the group’s new campaign director. We worked with Norton around here during his tenure as a staff attorney for the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy [MCEA]. If I had to pick one focused, unapologetic, taken-no-prisoners conservationist on the Minnesota scene, it’d be Matt Norton.”[1]
“MEP, the state’s largest environmental coalition, works for clean energy, clean water, and investments in Minnesota’s outdoors through policy initiatives, public education, and community events. Former state senator … and DNR deputy commissioner Steve Morse serves as MEP’s executive director.
“Over the years, I haven’t agreed with every stance that MCEA or MEP has taken on issues, but I’m glad these environmental watchdogs exist. In the journalism business, life’s a lot more interesting with groups and people willing to mix it up for conservation. I’m looking forward to watching what Norton brings to the table during the 2013 legislative session.”[2]
Wildlands and wildlife (& BHA) are extremely lucky to have the likes of Matt (and so many other committed hunter-conservationists) on our side.
