And Now for Some Good News in Conservation…

Meanwhile, back on the home-front, a coalition of sportsmen and conservation groups scored-big by winning a lawsuit which challenged plans for irresponsible oil and gas development on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property on the Roan Plateau in West-Central Colorado. A federal judge sided with the conservation coalition and determined that the BLM had failed to properly consider alternative oil and gas drilling techniques necessary to protect the landmark hunting and fishing destination.

In an area surrounded by growing industrial development, the Roan serves as a safe-haven for large herds of elk and mule deer. In addition, within the plateau are four streams with water quality sufficient to host populations of native Colorado River cutthroat trout.
